All true but having said that his flavor of the day generally does have above average metrics in relation to the share price. What he is not particularly good at is picking exceptionally well run companies that you can hold for the long term. His picks are trades and that is why he keeps buying and selling. I thought his comment on BTE was very telling. Rather than highlighting the development potential of the new area which I see as a company maker he focused on their existing areas which he considered average and unlikely to move the earnings needle short term. To me the potential of this new area makes it a long term buy, to Nutttall an underperformer so Nuttall is useful to traders not so much investors.
