The battery day punched holes in the rumours about Tesla joint venturing with LAC to develop the Thacker Pass clays. But the slavish followers of Musk pronouncements, many of whom have made a lot of money on Tesla but know nothing of mining or mineral processing, take him at face value on how easy it will be to extract lithium which is 'everywhere', using sodium chloride. So they have been selling off their mainstream lithium stocks.
Tesla meanwhile apparently just signed an agreement with Piedmont Lithium for supply of old fashioned spodumene (though the agreement is unconfirmed). It is another indication their table salt extraction process is a long way from being practical.
