This is a partial cross post from Public Heel's Mining board.
Covid has me rethinking how I will invest. Having started adult life as an explo geologist I've always been intrigued with mining exploration and have former geology classmates in the biz whose brains I could pick. I've used that to make some money. As I get older I've passed more of that lucre on to people doing basic work in the third world - skill building, basic public health stuff. My kids are set with a good education and decent jobs though who knows whether that will last. I have a limited appetite for stuff - have too damn much already.
I'm an old fart with a lung precondition i.e. comorbidity factor. With old classmates, friends and family dropping away in numbers over the last few years I've known for a while that I would run out of time before I run out of money. Covid sure does drive that point home. Can't take it with me. If I make it through I intend in future to put most of my investment money into cleantech enterprises and mining exploration that will serve a real need. Investment in base metals, lithium, a few others is key to the transition to a clean tech world.
