Heard this on NPR just yesterday. Dominion Energy has started
selling electric school buses to local school districts in Virginia for
the cost of a diesel bus. Virginia rate payers will pay the difference
on their bills. This is not a bad exchange for rate payers, assuming
they see the tax savings from reduced maintenance costs come tax time.
Any way, the cost is not much (maybe $1 a month per customer once the
fleet is transitioned) and it reduces both air pollution and GHG
emissions by a significant amount.
Hopefully Dominion Energy and Virginia will only be the first to see the light of this program.
