A portion of the two-day workshop will be dedicated to early career scientists working with cytokines in their research. Submit an abstract by July 22 for an opportunity to present your research—encore presentations welcome! Presentations will be judged on scientific merit, and the top presenter from each category (oral and rapid) will receive honorarium. Abstract submitters not selected for oral presentation will have the opportunity to present their research as a poster. The content of this workshop will focus on classic cytokines and their history, inhibitory cytokines, the paradox of interferons, cytokines in cellular therapies and much more. By bringing together established experts and talented new scientists and clinicians, the program will encourage further investigation into the use of cytokines as solo therapeutic agents as well as in combination cancer treatments. Program Organizers - Susan M. Kaech, PhD – Salk Institute
- Anne O’Garra, PhD – The Francis Crick Institute
- Aaron M. Ring, MD, PhD – Yale University
The workshop will feature scientific sessions and expert-led discussions by invited faculty, including keynotes by Warren J. Leonard, MD (Laboratory of Molecular Immunology, NHLBI) and Shannon J. Turley, PhD (Genentech, Inc.), on pressing topics in the field of cytokines in immunology and cancer immunotherapy. The program will foster renewed exchange and research on the promising topic of cytokines and their interactions in cancer development and therapy, lead to further research and provide a solid scientific foundation for future clinical interventions to modulate anti-tumor immunity with combinations of cytokines and other immunotherapies.
