Re: That which is wanting ... Wow, CEO of Rosneft...is quoting the bible! Imagine the reaction if the CEO of Exxon quoted the bible! That's a big tell on how much both: (a) The Russian culture has changed (back to Christianity) AND (b) "The West" has turned away from Christianity. We should not underestimate the civilizational gap that is expanding between Russia and the West. How about thou shall not kill, I think I read that somewhere in the bible? Thou shall not covet thy neighbors country that should be in the bible. I do not think Russia has any more religious convictions than found in the west. "Patriarch Kirill, head of the Russian Orthodox Church, has told his followers that "sacrifice in the course of carrying out your military duty washes away all sins." Still if the Patriarch came out against the war he would likely be thrown out of an upper story window of one of his cathedrals. No doubt religion is only allowed if it supports the government in Russia. That is probably the major difference between the east and the west. https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-patriarch-kirill-dying-ukraine-sins/32052380.html |
