>>“Fifteen years is great,” German Economy Minister Robert Habeck told a business conference in Berlin following the agreement. “I wouldn’t have had anything against 20 [years] or longer contracts.”

fwiw, it was Habeck himself who fought tooth and nail against any and all long-term LNG contracts. Somehow the "New" Habeck eventually figured out the "Old" Habeck was an idiot?
Many moons ago the Qataris told Habeck that there were no LNG available without a long-term contract. Habeck told the Qataris to go fish, and that he would never ever commit to a long-term LNG contract because NG was but a transitional fuel (on the road to renewable heaven). Now, after being forced to outbid there rest of the world for LNG shipments from LNG buyers with long-term contracts, it seems Habeck has swallowed his pride. Finally. Game, Set, and Match for Qatar, as Habeck had to negotiate a LNG "deal" in the midst of a global LNG shortage.
