Oil is a valuable commodity. It replaced slave labor to some extent. If the Chinese don't use it, someone else will. Do you choose to walk or ride a bike to the store, work, entertainment? Do you have a choice? Most people would choose efficiency of a car to go places.

 

The longer China negotiates lower prices for oil with their covid shutdown tactics, the more incentivized other oil consumers like India to buy China's share.
