I agree. The SUV alone is the cheapest. I meant to say if you get the EV you need both. And from a strictly cost perspective, it only makes sense if the entire cost of the EV is covered by the gasoline savings.
And I don't want to start another thread re: energy transition/global warming/End-to-End CO2/Math-Physics.
I've just found the EV/SUV analogy as a good way to explain the problem in an accessible way to people not as involved as you gentle readers.
I think we can all agree the most frustrating part of all this is that there is a lot of low-hanging fruit being ignored. Bio to coal; coal to gas, gas to nuc etc.
