Sounds like I've seen this movie before.
 
Govt. Industrial Policy purposely kills  some industries and promotes others with taxes and regulations... Soviet 5 year plans sound familiar?
 
Govt. accumulating strategic materials and releasing them to manipulate prices lower, like China does.
 
Govt. spewing propaganda nonstop and turning the screws on private media to censor opposing views... like all totalitarian govt.s thru the ages.
 
Raising taxes on sectors on the hit list and subsidizing others.
 
Controlling interest rates and the money supply. 
 
Intervening in supposedly Free Markets with an unlimited ability to create money to manipulate markets that would be illegal for individuals to do.
 
A neutral truthful observer, pressed to give market tactical advice, would say... it is suicidal to fight the a govt. that chooses to pursue it goals even at the cost of freedom and free markets.
