Russia wants Ukraine, all of it. Should we have sat back and let them take it? Turning the other cheek to a country led by a dictator, just emboldens the dictator. Oh and please do not tell me he is a lawfully elected president:
Previously, Russian presidents could only serve two consecutive four-year terms, but that changed in 2008 and again in 2020. Under a series of constitutional amendments passed in 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin, 69, can serve as the country's President until 2036 when he is 83 years old. He has already served 16 years, as President.
If we let Russia take it without paying a high price, then Putin would just look at a map and take that. If, Hitler taught Europe a lesson this was it:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
