I have been elected First Selectman of our town, started December 1. I along with other town leaders have been notified by Eversource that we need to be prepared for rolling blackouts that may last for days or more for this winter. The fact that they are notifying us in the middle of the winter to be prepared is a clear indication that they have not been taking this seriously.
I was the in charge auditor for the NE ISO, (then called NEPOOL) 1990 to 1992. It was my responsibility (with my team) to determine that New England grid was dispatched economically and reliably.
IMO reliability has been substantially compromised in the last 20 years. Now it is getting real. This is serious folks. Contact your State and local representatives and tell them that the reliability of our grid is not just critical, but it is a matter of life and death. New England will fare worse than Texas. We are most at risk during an extended and deep cold snap. Not a time to be without electricity.
