Casio published a new alert today warning Californians, between 6:00 - 9:00 PM, not to:
During the critical hours of 6:00-9:00 PM customers were asked to:
- Adjust thermostats to 78° or higher after cooling the home to below-normal levels in the morning;
- Not charge EVs;
- Draw drapes and turn off unnecessary lighting;
- Limit the opening of refrigerators, a major user of electricity in most homes (the average refrigerator is opened 33 times a day, the ISO said);
- Keep the refrigerator full (with bottles of water if nothing else) and unplug any second refrigerator if you have one; and
- Avoid using major appliances such as your ovens and instead cook on the stove, use a microwave, or grill outside.
My brother, who lives in northern California, just sold his ICE vehicle and bought a - Tesla. Now he can't charge it until after 9:00 PM. I'm sure he is enthusiastically doing everything else on the list.
Can't wait to see what happens when CA finishes the transition to 100% EV's!
Just so everyone doesn't think I'm picking on CA only, I suspect we will have a similar warning in Texas in the not too distant future.
