Re: Everything seems pro-inflation right now. I've used that bridge many times travelling east from Dallas. It is shut down with no timeline for re-opening. They won't even say when they can reopen the river to barge traffic. Here is the bridge in question. It is part of I-40, a major east-west transportation corridor. Here is a detailed picture of the crack. Hint: it's not really a crack - it's a break! They need to get the river reopened as first priority. Over 800 barges already backed up. The Mississippi river is the most critical transportation artery in the country. I don't know how they will fix the bridge. It looks to me like the structure has shifted. Notice the vertical separation at the beam break point. The next major east/west road arteries are I-20 crossing at Vicksburg, MS or the I-70 crossing at St Louis. Apparently, the river closure was the cause for the broadbased commodity rout yesterday. Lord help us. The problems keep piling up (mostly self inflicted). |
