Re: I'm looking for a major regulatory attack on cryptoI will try not to lecture you, but you are simply wrong. These encryptions are not the German Enigma from WW2. These encryptions are not linear and not symmetric. They belong to a class of problems that will take lifetimes to crack. Encryptions nowadays in layman terms are unbreakable. Notice even after they started the decryption, it took days to finish. It shows you the computation that is required to be applied is enormous (and that even with the key!) As for the back door, I doubt there is one. If you notice the reports of this attack of others, after paying, the hackers provide you with new software to decrypt you hard drive meaning the software and key to decrypt are not *already on the system. Therefore you cannot just hack their hack to trick it into decrypting for you. The best chance law enforcement has is to find a classic "rat". We should be trying to infiltrate these syndicates. That is the best bet just like mafia days. The crypto is another layer that makes it more complicated. Crypto holders are anonymous and the coins can be routed to different pseudonym/addresses. These coins will be moved so many times among anonymous parties that your head will spin. W made the good comment yesterday that best chance to identify them is during the "exchange" . When you want to covert to a currency. Those banks should be identifying you by standard (AML KYC). I am just not so sure that all banks operate that way especially when considering swiss or other islands. Furthermore, those coins will be exchanged to non-primary actors, other corporations. It will be laundered. While there is some hope that you can follow the crumbs, it is not practical. Crypto currency paired with encryption hackers is a very dangerous combination. They both have foundations directly in mathematics. They are almost unstoppable. Something has to happen here. Without rats, you will not catch them For what it is worth, I have an advanced computer science degree that included security classes that taught encryption. We actually had to sign a government document saying that we would not use this education to be bad. Quite the deterrent lol |
