Re: New variant in South Africa (501Y.v2) likely evades current vaccine antibodiesEqually concerning is the situation in Manaus which was believed to have reached herd immunity from first strain but now being hit with a new strain. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-brazil-variant-idUSKBN29R2GP Interesting that Japan ( & China ) who had weathered first strain well, are now being hit & it was Japan that first alerted to the new strain from Manaus. This is a very complex situation. Many want to take the view this is another virus like flu etc., let's press on & to hell with it. Others think every last life must be saved. The world has become very, very polarised in attitudes. It's not just the approach to virus. It's climate versus economy, race & culture & even gender. We seem unable to even agree on what the problem is, let alone the solution. Reason, which transcends intellect and should unite us, seems missing. Making financial decision on common sense is impossible, there is no common sense anymore! I am rather concerned that things are going to get a whole lot worse either with the virus or the economy or the sheer disagreement about what is NORMAL & ACCEPTABLE behaviour. |
