Just did a quick check and learned that Belgium has 12 different parties that hold seats in their parliament! There are numerous other parties that don't hold seats but have run candidates.

The likelihood of rational governance in Begium is probably somewhere between zero and negative one. Reminds me of Italy a few years back with a similar parliamentary structure. In 1987 they elected Cicciolina, a porn star, to their parliament. FWIW, she first ran for the new green party, in Italy, in 1979 but lost.

Italy has 13 parties 'presently' combined with a proportional representation form of election. It's pretty doubtful that they get much done either.

Take a good look at Europe.....North American politics don't look nearly so bad. Perhaps something to be thankful for on a day like today.
