AZO have always bought back a pile of stock over the years. I remember a guy telling me many years ago he was short
20,000 shares at around $90/share. If you look it is one of the few companies with a negative book value per share. It’s
an accounting thing because of the massive buybacks. AZO is ten times that price now, I would imagine he isn’t still short lol.
I just looked it up book value is -63.88/share, that’s minus. If you ever see that it is likely the company has done
massive buybacks over a period of time.
