Re: Canacol Presentation Dated September 15 -- market timing --Nicely done b9man. Late March, in hindsight, was a good time to pick up deals. At first I thought this COVID-19 virus would be short-lived and largely geographically confined like SARS and other epidemics in the post-war period. Then it took off and kept going. The only thing I can say in my defence is that a few epidemiologists initially thought likewise. That turned out to be so wrong.... Right now, I am not all optimistic in regards to a C-19 virus vaccine. Too many folks want a convenient pill-popping solution to not only the virus but just about everything in life these days. That lazy "pill popping" attitude is precisely why so many are getting very sick and dying. Nevertheless I am confident that disciplined social behaviour can control and manage the virus. How does this pandemic and the global economy evolve going forward? I would like to know. If we could predict with some certainty that as of early 2021, the global economy would steadily recover, then it would be time to load up on plays like Frontera Energy to name but one example. Heavy oil plays in the WCSB would be terrific bets too. A sharp, fast recovery in the global economy and oil prices would make debt-heavy, politically troubled Gran Tierra Energy the mid-tier deal of the century. In the meantime, Saudi trash talk suggests that both a healthy recovery in the economy and oil prices is somewhere down the road. |
