Re: March Monarch WebinarWow, what a ton of info, thanks. I am on the board of Keep Lewisville Beautiful, which is part of Keep Texas and Keep American Beautiful. This year the city along with our local organization are starting to build out butterfly way stations for all pollinators not just butterflies. There will be a total of about 33 different areas around the city planted and maintained for that purpose. Some will be more managed than others ie. drip irration, signage etc. (we have had a problem with the city mowing our other wild flower areas at the wrong time) and some will be open meadow areas. We just finished our first site last week by planting 1000 plants including Asclepias tuberosa (Texas Milkweed), cone flowers, blackeyed susans etc. My own butterfly/hummingbird garden is just getting into full swing with lots of pollinators on my Pincushion flowers, Autumn sage and Larksspur. My milkweed is up but it will be a few more weeks until it is full grown and blooming. |
