Lumber pricesIf you been engaged in DIY projects during this pandemic you will know that lumber prices have increased considerably, and with it the share prices of lumber producers. I don't know why the share price of RFP has moved up more than 13% today but is indicative of a wider movement. Here is a recent article: https://www.princegeorgecitizen.com/news/local-news/north-american-lumber-prices-go-through-the-roof-1.24307319 Of course there are those analysts preaching caution, but with the pent-up demand in US housing I am not sure when lumber prices will get softer. This is BMO's take: https://betterdwelling.com/bmo-sees-soaring-lumber-prices-crashing-soon-which-may-lower-new-home-costs/ On the other hand there are those who see no end to price increases: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/lumber-prices-bc-1.5957406 Disclosure: I hold RFP, CFF, IFP, CFP, WFG. Also have a position in LOW and the triple-leveraged US homebuilders ETF NAIL. Cascades is moving up 5% today. No position. |
