The report says 14,000 barrels was lost in the rupture. I’m always amazed at the volume lost before a shut down.
Then again, with this pipeline doing 622k barrels a day, the 14,000 barrels is just 32 minutes before stoppage.
While I don’t know the complete dynamics of pipelines I would assume if the pipeline is stopped that there’s still some oil flow with the current residual pressure before it drops to zero.
In any case, to bad and what a mess.
