Re: Pretty good presentation today... Not with the bone marrow news, imo. While years away, as today was just disclosing that they could get mRNA into bone marrow via systemic administration and that it persisted and it could be transplanted and replicate in the recipient, no alteration of marrow functioning was attempted (I think without high confidence). First they prove that mRNA can get into bone marrow. Next they prove that mRNA can alter the way bone marrow regulates the immune system. Then they pick a target disease where they think they know what about the immune system needs to be fixed. Then they design a mRNA particle designed to cause the marrow to do or not do whatever needs to be done to stop the immune system from causing, say, rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Then they try it to see if it works. Years away. Perhaps my grandchildren will become very rich from the Moderna stock we will be holding when the last of us dies. |
