I debated whether to post this info, as it opens so many questions that I can't answer.
But then I thought about all the crap the FUDsters throw out and decided to report the facts as I heard them, and let others determine the outcome.

I had a meeting with my urologist Friday (no kidney stone, thank you God) and at the end of our office visit, I said "What do you think of Provenge?"

His reply and my impressions:
1. He was knowledgeable and said they were excited about using it on earlier stage patients. No mention of late stage guys.
2. Insurance wouldn't cover it for that use, so it would be cash: $100K each.
Don't know if this is marked up, or just a total figure for everything.
3. They had seven guys signed up, mostly from Saudi Arabia. Got the impression these were from a longstanding relationship with a certain Saudi doctor.
4. No I don't know when, or if they've started. I do know a lot of Middle Easterners come to The Texas Medical Center and they stay on the top floor of Methodist Hospital, which is akin to a Four Seasons hotel.
5. Anyhow, I asked if what he told me was confidential, and he said "no".
His mentor who was coordinating the program is Dr. Brian Miles.

I don't know if there is an ethical problem treating earlier stage guys now, but then again I don't know the time schedule.
But I do know this story is indicative a strong demand, as any guy who is facing prostate surgery could probably verify.
