Re: prostvac - from Yahoo
Thanks. Just to share--Prostvac Phase 2 results are deemed "hypothesis generating" only in Journal of Clinical Oncology editorial about the results--owing to imbalance in the study arms and unexplained failure of the placebo arm to attain close to its Halabi predicted median survival. Treatment arm was favored according to Halabi model in expected survival and there was an imbalance in lymph node only patients (who have a better prognosis) in favor of the treatment arm (9.8% in treatment arm vs. 0% in placebo arm).
Don't know if these are the reasons David expects the phase 3 to fail.
David?
P.S. I'm not trying to shoot down Prostvac--if it is a real potential competitor we need to be aware and act accordingly. But first we need to analyze that.
Same with Zibotentan. I know many think I have on rose colored glasses as to Provenge, but precisely because of the natural tendency to want to believe one is right in having found "the answer", I totally recognize that one must strive really hard to perform a dispassionate analysis of the realities.
For that reason I urge everyone here to study the possibilities that there are competitors out there.
What do you all think about the Prostvac results so far?
What do you think about the prospects of competition from Zibotentan? Are there flaws in Zibo's data? If its phase 3 trial succeds what are the likely consequences for Provenge?
Informed posts are necessary for us all to not get stuck in "Wishful Thinking Land"
Let's hear the case for the competitors and also the case against the competitors.
