....... it most likely started way back in the 50's when women increasingly went into the job force to keep up with inflation and consumerism......processed ["abundance"] and CONvenience of her time and efforts made these kinds of foods grow in popularity. Until we are at where we are at about "nutrition".......basic foods need "more" prep etc, or so we are lead to believe. Fast foods, frozen tv dinners and finally Microwave"ables", gives us that instant gratification [eat and run life]......even creating a "I must have it now" generation.....easy to see how this pattern of thought evolved. ;-)
