With reference to a not-too-long-ago post of mine, I'm not sure who it is I was trying to fool or how I was trying to fool them, but in "recent days" I have acquired those 2017 calls. If things are looking rosy enough a year from now, I'll have the option to nearly double my position in VHC. (perhaps I should refer to them as LEAPS and see if that is cause for someone to hurl insults at me . . . )
Now a thought or two on those things that truly matter. Less than a week ago, my better-half and I drove to Fredericksburg VA for a niece's 40th birthday party at the Bowman Distillery (that is some smooth bourbon). We stayed over Thursday night at the former White Star Motel in sleepy Jennerstown, PA, where my wife as one of the owners young daughters got to have her run of the place on weekends sometime in the '70's. As we continued our drive Friday morning on the Lincoln Highway/Route 30, we stopped at the Flight 93 Memorial.
We spent far more time there than we would have guessed. One week after the Paris attacks, there we were looking over hallowed ground where some of the remains of the 40 people (plus the hijackers) are still scattered in fragments throughout the nearby hemlock grove. As most of you know, that plane would have hit a target in DC were it not for the brave actions of those who stopped it, and this was after a vote taken of those on board. They are surely heroes and we are indebted to them. It was quite an experience. If you are crossing the PA turnpike and have the time, it is well worth the trip, but give yourself the time to take it in.
Yes, we would all like our investment to pay off, but a little dose of reality shows how certain rantings on a message board can go beyond petty, shameful, and worse.
But hey, on a more upbeat note, I'm blessed to have my expectant daughter in town for a couple of weeks, and am looking forward to gathering with more and more family soon, as most of you are. A Happy Thanksgiving and Holidays to all, and I'll be going back to lurking mode, using manual ignore, etc. If there's big news, I'll stop in to say woo-hoo ! We could use a woo-hoo! about now. Opa
