Wonder how long such a use of Tilmanocept would last should the test gain FDA approval (or can docs use it off label right now?) - metal on metal hip implants aren't being used anymore, most of them were recalled for the exact things this test can identify - the metal ions around the implant, infections, etc. - although this can occur with any joint replacement that uses metal, like artificial knees, so perhaps it does have a long term use.
After reading about these metal allergies all I can say is thank god the metal used in my cervical spine herniated disk surgery was titanium - and that was back in 2005, years before the allergic reactions to nickel/chromium/cobalt materials used in MoM hip and knee implants became well known.
