Re: Malaria: Kenya, Ghana and Malawi get first vaccine II - AdjuvantThat's Ok but why exactly do you believe such? Data. I simply know of nothing that has been a match for ADXS' Listeria adjuvant. A bit of a joker in the deck is the extract from the soap tree bark which is wildly different from the other two. Extracts from that tree have found numerous uses, even including an ingredient in the ancient sarsaparilla soft drink. Just why it's so useful is unknown to me but it may add only a small bit of toxicity to a combination with Lm. The very first Phase I safety trial of the ADXS adjuvant was an unparalleled success in obtaining 2 complete responses and 1 partial response from a lady that was alive years later out of 13 volunteers without any further hope in the final stage of their cancers. The scientific success was buried by financial disaster from predatory financing but led to an "impossible" revival and a subsequent rescue by the current CEO. That first trial remains buried in the past because it comes with the old ghosts I suppose. Of course, the malaria vaccine is a first and only accomplishment extending the viability of vaccines to a very new class of target. A clinical trial of the ADXS adjuvant could provide evidence. It is not clear to me how any such trial could be ethically performed now. My mind rebels at adding Lm to the "poisonous" mix. [Adjuvants are loosely regarded as a kind of poison that incites the immune system to take action.] It is just empty speculation for the foreseeable future. So why did I post it? Again just suggesting a wide open future far beyond cancer as Thomas Moore tried to demonstrate. Moore even succeeded in obtaining an acceptance of a proposal for a Homeland Security grant that was never realized in the imbroglio that led to another near financial disaster. As always, JMO.
