Re: Texas Oil Fields Rebound From Price Lull, but Jobs Are Left Behind
We are doing a bucket list car trip from coast to coast. We spent four days traveling in west Texas and southern New Mexico last month and were surprised at how quiet the main and side roads were. We saw a few rigs hauling pipe on I-10 and a couple hauling very large pumps. From our viewpoint not much activity ijn the oil fields. PS My wife had a terrible steak in Ft Stockton, TX at a steak house and a fabulous steak in Las Cruces, NM at an ancient Mexican restaurant. PPS In California now. Another convenient refinery fire in Torrance to drive up the gas prices. On the exact same day of a big fire 2 years ago when that refinery was owned by Exxon that drove CA gas prices over $5 in LA. We paid $2.09 for regular in AZ two weekends ago. $2.59 was best price we have seen in CA before the Torrance fire. Saw $3.11 yesterday. Paid $1.99 in Houston last month.
