Capital Gains Taxation of MLPsHi! I own 3 MLPs bought mostly in 2008. Although I have LT Cap gains in all 3, there are several lots in 1 that could be sold at a loss, and other lots that have little in the way of gain. My question is this- can I specify to sell only the losing or small gain lots, and is the basis on these lots figured separately from the overall basis of my partnership interest? So far I have figured that an MLP investment for practical purposes is locked up until I might want to sell all of it, but perhaps this is not true? Thanks for any direction, Uncle G |
