I'm not really interested in managing the land other than periodic thinning of the monocrop pine acreage. We may pay for a crew to do a precommercial thinning of volunteer pines in the mixed section as in many areas the self seeded pines are 1-2 feet apart.
ATFS does look interesting, but also looks like it could turn land ownership into a full time job. It seems to me that the most parcels that are simply left alone, 'not managed', eventually result in very healthy mixed forests.
