Level 3 Communications : Activates New Power Substation at Cotia, São Paulo, Data CenterLevel 3 Communications : Activates New Power Substation at Cotia, São Paulo, Data Center 11/30/2015 | 09:11am US/Eastern New Substation Operates With Enough Capacity To Meet 25 Percent of Cotia City's Demand São Paulo, Brazil, November 30, 2015 - Level 3 Communications (NYSE: LVLT) activated a new power substation at its data center in Cotia, São Paulo, fortifying business continuity capabilities for customers in the region. Key Facts: The new substation is interconnected by two separate power lines to the Supplier substation of Jandira, redundant and integrated into Brazil's national electricity system. The new structure receives power through a high voltage (88/138kV) system, and power conversion for internal consumption will take place at Level 3's Data Center facilities. It has a 20 MW power capacity. This represents 25 percent of the aggregate power demand for the city of Cotia, which consumes an average of 78 MW a year, according to the Secretariat of Energy of São Paulo. The new substation has enough capacity to support a four-fold growth of the current power demand providing the necessary flexibility to support growth for customers.
