Re: Colt/LVLT
Don't forget that an adjunct to any COLT deal would be a very good Asia entry play. COLT has assumed full ownership of Japan-based operator KVH (former a sister company through the Fidelity interest). KVH was initially a Tokyo metro fiber play that grabbed the potential of the financial vertical play (algorithmic trading etc), establishing excellent connectivity into the Tokyo stock exchange (i think the only company other than NTT with direct fibre to the stock exchange's matching engines, i.e., into the trading platforms) and from there making similar plays into other key bourses, so that they now have an excellent VLAN offering into key Asia financial markets (and associated data center products). It would be a very nice addition to the Level 3 network and product set. The tail can't wag the dog here - COLT is about UK/Europe - but there'd be a very nice little Asian pearl coming with the deal. IMO COLT is the next building block to global domination.
