Re: Rambus’ (Inphi) DDR4 Buffer chips. If Rambus was cancelling their internal buffer chipset program, I don't think that Ron Black would have been entheusiastic about it just last month: << We’ve also shared the news about acquiring the Memory Interconnect business from Inphi. This is another strategic acquisition that not only gives us instant market share in the memory chipset business, but enhances our ongoing development work in the buffer chip program and rationalizes the segment. We launched our first Rambus brand in DD4 memory buffer chips at last year and made excellent progress with a solution in the final qualification stage with partners.>> Also, during the Inphi acquisition conference call Ron Black said that their internal program was going very well - Inphi buffer acquisition is "complimentary" to what Rambus is doing. It's specifically after 12 minutes here where Ron Black says the roadmaps will be converged and there will be an even stronger merged team - particularly with DDR5. The acquisition has "nothing to do" with any problems for Rambus' internal program: |
