In addition, note this statement from Dr Black in the conference call Monday.
“We have a lot of contracts that we're discussing currently with customers. As we've said a few times, we really don't like to put guidance in a position that we need all of these to be successful. So there's quite a wide range, but I think we're really on track.”
My impression (guess) is, that some contract did not get signed in Q3 that Rambus Management felt would likely get signed, but while that did not cause a total miss in their Q3 guidance, it certainly prevented the impression of strong licensing growth.
So the question I have is, assuming my speculation is correct, will that contract get signed in Q4 or has it been delayed, or went away totally for some reason?
And given Dr Black's “wide range” statement, does this mean there is upside potential if some of the other contracts get signed in 4Q or ahead of forecast?
