FYI: I never said I don't think Petrofsky is involved. I only said that the one piece of contradictory evidence I'd seen up to that point happened to arrive two days after I claimed that he was. Subsequent to that, I discovered another piece of evidence that contradicted the contradiction. But what's done is done. I did apologize to him via email. Three emails. But he preferred to ignore them.
If I may say, the reason I retracted so quickly was mainly to reinforce the strength of everything else on ASM. I accurately outted Yolanda Holtzee. I accurately outted Darl Dumont. I accurately outted Floyd Schneider. I accurately outted Gary Weiss. I may have been off on Al Petrofsky, so that claim is gone. But the other four stand and aren't going anywhere. 80% beats the hell out of Roddy Boyd's reliability rating as far as I'm concerned.
More recently I happened to discover something even more interesting that has made quite clear the primary person behind ScipioAfricanus.
How I got this information gets to the semi-hidden goodie I alluded to earlier...the same which is now useless given the utter paucity of traffic on O-smear. Because nobody guessed it, I'll reveal it now.
Turns out, Scipio inadvertently planted what he would call "spyware" on his own little hate site, giving me a very thorough record of his visitors. Of course, he was a frequent enough visitor himself, using his home ISP (as opposed to AOL and his faux web-bots) that IDing him was easy. You'll see it
here. Note the image of the two "buttons"? They are served from the ASM server.
Thanks for that, Scipio. If you want to take a look at what are essentially you own server logs, just let me know.
By the way, ias it turns out, Scipio is actually the first person I suspected, but for reasons I'll explain later, came to discount a little too early. This is going to get very interesting, very quickly, folks. To quote Patrick, I'm going to do Scipio "slow."
