Ah yes,,,the days of free ammo and no cleaning of weapons. We had a BAR some M1's a Thompson, few colt 45's , 2 12 gauge and a clay pigeon thrower that mounted right to the rail. Shooting Sundays from 1200 t0 1500.
Had one Capt that was a real wing-nut. Used to take them cans of fire fighting foam mix and troll them for miles, then go back and look for sharks. Saw only one,what a hoot,,,got it eating chicken right up by the fantail.. When it got pretty close the old man started throwing grenades at it as fast as him and the XO could go at it. He also hated gulls,, spent hours shooting at them with a 45.
Hated being in but sure had some great times.
