About a month ago I posted that my dad has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and is in an assisted living facility. He is on several medications but the two I believe are noteworthy are Arisept for his Alzheimer’s and Celebrex, an anti-inflammatory. His doctor was fine with giving my dad Anatabloc (he's taking 6 per day) but he hasn’t altered any of the other drugs.
First off, what I’m sure you all are aware of, there’s really not much value in a study with one patient. I’ll never be able to know how my dad would have progressed without Anatabloc and there’s no control group to compare with. So this is hardly meaningful from a scientific point of view. Next, my dad lives in California with me and my sister. My brother lives in Oregon and speaks to my dad almost on a daily basis. I didn’t tell my brother about our dad taking the Anatabloc because, well, you’d have to know my brother to understand why. And finally, my dad is a WWII vet and tough as nails. I remember in my youth that if I ever got hurt, his comment was always, “toughen up, it’s only pain”.
All that being said, he’s now been on Anatabloc for about a month. Honestly, I don’t see any improvement in his memory, but I do believe his spirits and his outlook are noticeably better. A week ago my sister and I got an email from my brother that stated in part, “Tonight I got two calls from Dad. One was pretty standard. However, during the other, Dad went on at length about how much he likes living at Sunrise. He said things like "Everyone is so friendly", "People say 'Hi Mr. Stroot' in the hallway", "If there's anything wrong, you tell them and it gets fixed.", and "The food is great". I was very pleased to hear him so happy and contented. So, I don't know if it's the environment or the medications but, whatever it is, it's working!”
Is this due to Anatabloc? I really don’t know and may never know.
My initial order was for a three month supply and I’ll give updates after month two and three for those who are interested.
