Re: Near zero love on a massive up day windmutt, You evidently did not read the most recent Patent published here by JBWIN. NO BIOTECH IS AHEAD OF SGMO IN HEMO. If a patient, INFANT or pediatric can be tested almost immediately after birth for specific genetic receptors and cell surface markers, and the results are immediately available, hours not days. Then the modified quickly, hours to a few days. why is this advantageous. The number of cells that need to be modified and grown is much fewer. A small infant doesn't need as many cells to effect a "curative" effect. You may recall EL mentioning treating infants and children. in recent presentations. Testing in the delivery room and treating the infant before leaving the hospital. If you know the defect you are looking for sequencing can be very fast, even at the bedside. This won't be in the clinic tomorrow, but is a great addition to the pipeline, with much broader application than I can even guess at. Viable for diagnosing almost all LSDs? These methods are not exclusive to HEMO. There is so much we are not made aware of, unless we look. Thanks JB, this is more important info than almost anyone understands. "B" |
