Some info regarding Fetal Hemoglobin Persisting in AdultsWhile I agree there are certainly risks with making fetal hemoglobin active in adults, I think we can say that SGMO has at least considered and partially addressed the risks.
FWIW see below.
1. From Philip Gregory in the Q4 2014 Earnings Call Transcript: “It is well-established that the persistence of fetal hemoglobin beyond the newborn stage lessens the severity of both of these disorders in adults. The goal of our therapy is to enable continued production of fetal globin in the adult and thus ameliorate the disease in all patients.” 2. From the 9/9/14 RAC you might be interested to listen to Fyodor Urnov’s comments from 1hr31min to 1 hr35min where he discusses fetal hemoglobin persisting in adults. (The introductions of the presenting team actually begin about 1hr23min30sec's if you want to back up to the beginning). 3. And even at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hereditary_persistence_of_fetal_hemoglobin Best, DeadeyeGame |
