I agree that EL has done an exemplary job but I really don't get the point of your post.
It's been previously noted that in addition to last year's stock and equity awards/grants valued at $2,192K, EL received cash compensation was $1,120K ($640K in salary plus $480K in bonus)… that's probably enough cash to maintain a "comfortable living"… it's also been noted that he's sold 400,000 shares in the last year for additional cash proceeds of > $6MM.
and now we know that EL has made a "generous gift" to his preparatory school alma mater… that's nice… it's his money and he's entitled to do whatever he pleases with it... but I'm not impressed with any high profile donation to what appears to be an exclusive and privileged entity.
and of course we all wish EL and SGMO 'true success'… but my primary concern therein is my personal well-being… and I'm certainly no bleeding heart, but if we're successful, I'll have more funds to spend as I please, perhaps including low profile donations to worthy charities.
