I think it is the curse of becoming publicly traded. It's not good enough to have a good business going, with happy customers and growth. New products, etc. You've suddenly got to have astronomical growth. Because shareholders might be unhappy with mere spectacular growth. So I'm beginning to form an opinion that an IPO is the beginning of the eventual end of any company treating everyone right. Even Google eventually has abandoned "don't be evil".
Precisely. It's why some of us have been campaigning for the social ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange for a very long time now.
Note this need not mean government ownership which, IMO, is a mistake.
