Re: Putin ready?twobytebus - "LeMay had no idea what he was dealing with - apparently neither do many of the current generals." Have you spent many years in military service? "If not, I don't think you're speaking from a viewpoint with as much knowledge as compared to someone who has". I have, and can tell you that the vast majority of military men and women, who have seen combat, abhor the idea of sending our youth to battlefields around the world. Perhaps the only thing worse is having politicians trying to run military operations after the need for military action has been decided. In your visits to Russia, did you have any discussions on the Soviet battles in the Ukraine during WWII? The Battle of Kursk alone accounted for well over 1/2 million Soviet causalities. If you want to understand Russian/Soviet interests in Eastern-Europe, and specifically in the Ukraine - read some military history. Look at the maps on the right side of the commentary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kursk Combined German & Soviet forces - 3 million combat troops, 8,000 tanks, 5,000 warplanes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73HqOxr9dTk Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about the current situation, and I certainly have no interest in defending Putin - but it helps to understand why many Russians think they have some justification for what is occurring.
