Here is a video of Jim Ricards vs. a 'twenty-something' twirp from Atlantic Monthly in a Bloomberg staged debate on the gold standard. If you watch, you will pick up some gems from Ricards on the history of the country on gold standard and the screw-ups by the fed which have, in revisionist history become the fault of gold, LOL.
Anyway, it seems that the sop that the repubs threw to the Ron Paul delegates at the RNC in Tampa, the committee on gold monetary policy, which was obviously brought up not to seriously consider gold as money but rather to appease Paulites to get through the convention without too much infighting, this sop has ignited a firestorm of anti-gold rhetoric.
TV and print/net text media are overflowing with 'Gold as Useless Relic' pronouncements over the past week or so, right? Twisted logic and revisionist monetary history rules the day.
What ever you might think of Ricards, what his various agenda may be, he scores points in his arguements, even as his opponent brought a knife to a gun fight, LOL.
PS: some really fine, well thought out and informative posts today, the self-cleansing of the PM board continues. I actually stooped to count the number of posts that are ignored by my choices, yesterday it was almost 40% auto-ignored, today it declined to about 30%, progress, ho ho.
