In recent years it seems like Nigerian oil production has been stagnate.
If the big international oil companies operating in Nigeria are still oil selling off oil assets then they must not see any long term hope for improvement in regards to the Nigerian government creating a stable future business environment.
Considering what is happening in Alberta where the new NDP government wants to increase oil & gas taxes to help make up for falling oil tax revenues (due to lower oil prices), then the new Nigeria government doing the same thing should come as no surprise.
This will make it doubly difficult for local Nigerian oil companies to expand oil production since they need to make a profit before they can make new capital investments.
Instead their profits will be taxed away to meet immediate government spending needs.
Governments always seem to think a bigger piece of a smaller pie is more.
