TUNIS (
TAP Special Correspondent Yamina Touati) - Caretaker President Moncef Marzouki, who is paying an official visit to the Vatican, invited Pope Francis to visit Tunisia to convey to the entire world reassuring messages about the future of peaceful co-existence between Muslims and Christians.
The invitation was accepted by the Pope, according to the Spokesperson for the Presidency Adnene Mansar who added that the date of the visit will be set subsequently.
Political Islam and the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) and threats facing Muslims as well as other religious beliefs were discussed at the meeting.
On another hand, the Pope welcomed the promulgation of Tunisia's new constitution which guarantees freedom of belief and conscience.
Marzouki also met with President of Governorate of Vatican City State Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello.
