"I'm not predicting the S&P 500 Index will go up 1000% in the next 15-20 years;
but I'm saying it could based upon a blog by Chris Ciavocco, a very good
technician, cited in my post. In the blog, Chris notes that the monthly NYSE
Composite Index apparently has broken out of a multi-year box in late 2016 just
like it did in 1982, after which the NYSE Composite Index rallied 1008% for 18 years
through 2000. If a 1000% point rally happened once, IMO it could happen again"
That's fair enough. But, I will say that in 1982 we had drastically declining long-term interest rates, and now we're looking at rates that will be rising. I wonder how he squares that difference.
