Re: OT The Airbus for you travlers

I always thought it was odd that Boeing lost its contract last year to the French. It put a lot of Americans out of work. I knew several people that worked for them and at the time, they said that the French planes were not as safe. I guess your article proves it. Thanks for posting..........Babs

Re: OT The Airbus for you travlers

Here’s a link to an article dealing with the failure of Boeing’s modeling software to accurately predict the actual failure rate of composite materials in real-world use. The title is, “Boeing’s Misstep is indicative of Broader misconceptions of risk”:

Re: OT The Airbus for you travlers

Lengthy but very instructive article....it did include a little editorializing though.

I fly virtually every week, frequently on AB planes and have long been skeptical of the Airbus business Model, a European consortium of France, Germany UK and Spain.

As i understand it the company is heavily subsidized by the respective governments.

While i assume the Gov's do not directly intervene aka the "command and control" soviet model, these subsidies certainly allow for substandard design/manufacturing that darwian forces of the "free market" would more likely winnow out. IMO Although the "free market" is a hard species to find in the EU evidenced by their 15 yr GDP growth VS the US.

The European's need not fear, we have embarked down their path with GM, the financial system and alas soon to be socialized medicine.

Compared to a stabilizer falling off in mid-flight i guess a wheel comming off one of GM/Obama's Eco cars is not that bad. They can't go very fast and seat only three.....collateral damage won't severe....how much damage can an 800 LB beer can do at 52 MPH?

Airbus could comfort it's passengers with a video feed of the stabilizer during flight.....i know i'd feel better seeing it remaining intact.
