Piece is about brick&mortar ops, but OSTK is in the sweet spot too - high fuel cost/shop from home

Re: Check this one....!

So i was bored and clicked an overstock add through google. At first the ipod prices looked pretty sweet, then i realized it was a refurb. WTF? How is the "Compare to" price for a refurbished product the same as the retail price for a NEW product everywhere else?

Re: Check this one....!

Some good news.. i was able to locate shares again. Getting them called worked well with OSTK about $1.8 higher than when i was forced to cover.

Re: Check this one....!

How's the SEC investigation and five-county California criminal investigation going, Wacky Patty? Still fully cooperating and everything OK and all that?

Re: Check this one....!

I still don't understand why you didn't just tell your broker to check the "naked short" box on the transaction ticket instead of going to all the bother of having shares located.  That's what most of the people here say you can do.

By the way, aren't you scared to be shorting a stock that has such a low ratio of price to sales?  Oh, that's right--you look at profitability.  I think the U. S. Postal Service should be privatized and stock issued priced on the basis of sales.  It would solve a lot of fiscal problems for the government, and create vast new shorting opportunities.  Me, I'd just buy the puts.

Re: Check this one....!

Yeah, i would be a very wealthy man if i had the no locate option. There are so many Put/Call arbitrage opportunities out there.

I use to get really worked up every time some retard analyst would come out with a price target for AMD based on a multiple of sales even though they were burning cash like no other. The other one was typically a multiple of book, while the book was mostly inflated due to good will based on their ATI purchase. Once AMD finally anounced that they overpaid and were writing down good will the analyst using the multiple said everyone knew goodwill would get marked down and then moved over to a multiple of sales.

I agree with many on this board that much of wall street is an F'ing scam. I just happen to think that they bought into one of the scams frequently claimed by crappy CEO's... shorts (NS) are screwing us over...

Hey, dipshit!  I heard thru the grapevine that, at dinner last nite, Patrick had a chive on his tooth, and he didn't even know it.

Re: Check this one....!

here is a little exercise:

assume 3M shares of a company are created through a market makers exemptions. what would happen to the price of the stock, if those 3M shares were used to hit the bid in 100 share blocks until exhausted. Assume every 10th trade - the bid gets taken down $.01/share. How much could the stock drop in theory?

Re: Check this one....!

Hah.. it was your side that chronicled who Herb was having dinner with. I still find it amusing that you knuckle heads never comment on whether or not the warnings of the short sellers/herb was warented. Ackman was spot on with the monolines. Herb was right on with Novastar, Medis, Bank United, Overstock, Mannatech. Concerns about HOG, Neutrisystem and others proved to be pretty solid as well.

And to some it up, Put/Call parity would exist if NSS was easy and rampent.

Re: Check this one....!

It's really painful to read your posts - while your spelling is atrocious - it mostly hurts to think that anyone could (actually) be so naive, errrrrrr stupid.

(yes, yes darla - I made a social faux pas once many weeks ago too.)

Re: Check this one....!

Oh, i make no claims of possessing good grammar or spelling. My background and talent has always been in math and science. I'm not nearly as stupid as my writing would suggest. :)

And i'm not naive, I've trounced the market due largely to people like those on this board who buy into to some nonsense, creating/maintaining an overpriced security long enough for me to place a short before reality sets in. My annualized rate of return is in excess of 35% a year going back to 2002 when i started investing. Suck on that buddy.

And that's why you post 24/7 on a stock message board of virtually only one company(OSTK).

Re: Check this one....!

No i post here because the board is active, has some solid posters, has a lot entertaining posters and because I have current position and dislike of the CEO. Other companies i hate like MDTL and BKUNA don't have an active board.

Yeah, i know the 35% is pretty amazing... i've impressed myself too! ;)

<<<because I have current position and dislike of the CEO>>>

Too funny!! I have read your posts and you have never proclaimed your position when taken. So can we assume the 35% is just something you've made up like most of your posts?

Re: Check this one....!

I'm not going to go dig through my post but I know on more than one occasion I mentioned being short the likes of OSTK, AMD, MDTL, PMI, MBI, RDN, BKUNA, ABK and IMB (there is a reason why i'm a big herb greenberg fan). You can look for yourself and see how they've done since i posted and I had entered them well before I posted anything about them here. There has also been some ARB opportunities and market ineficiencies which i've not posted here nor would I, but one just added about 12% to my 2008 return. The key is locating shares.

Actual annualized rate has been 37.48% a year since 2002 (after transaction cost but excluding tax implications). I've never lied on this board or the AMD board back when I posted there nor do i have any cause too.

At least he is consistent. He has been fulll of sh--t for three years. Just imagine the money and benefits that could have accrued with a real job.
